#MysteryWeek: First Cat Clue

Welcome to Goodreads #MysteryWeek. For the next seven days I’ll be posting clues about the book I’m writing right now called Murder Most Yowl: Chaos at the Cat Show. In it a cat entrepreneur shows off his wares, aka Tuna/Salmon cat treats, at a local cat show when the town gossip is murdered. Will he be able to find her killer?

Put on your detective hat and look for the following as you walk through a crowded auditorium full of kids, adults, judges and competing felines as we search for the blue ribbon prize along with trying to solve a murder.

Also don’t forget to ask me a question at Goodreads for a chance at a $25 Amazon gift card.

A yawning yowl: When the prizes were handed out the cat who yawned in the judge’s face won the blue ribbon. Why? Peyton hardly seemed as animated or engaging as some of the other felines under consideration, so why did he end up in first place?

Boredom at a cat show? Perhaps, at least until the body is discovered.

#MysteryWeek: Five Sentence Mystery

Welcome to Goodread’s #MysteryWeek. I’m kicking things off with a Five Sentence Mystery featuring the characters from my cat-themed mystery: Murder Most Yowl. Check out my profile page. If you ask me a question you have a chance to win a $25 Amazon gift card.

Now sit back and enjoy: The Purrrfect Crime?

Marion Steinbeck, one of Sunrise Cove’s most wealthy of citizens lay dead on the floor of her study, next to the raging fire.

Her husband, Adam, claimed robbery, his story backed up a blown open safe, now conspicuously empty, a valuable bracelet missing.

Sheriff Jake O’Neill thought he might believe Adam’s story, but I knew better.

My cat, Edgar had a bad habit of snatching shiny things, and now he sat at my feet with the missing bracelet hanging from his mouth, crimson blood staining the gold chain.

While Jake introduced Adam to his jail, my cat Edgar became a hero, which just goes to show, there’s no such thing as a purrrfect crime.

Murder Most Yowl Snippet #4

Hey everybody.

It’s Rainbow Snippets time.

Again I’m revisiting my novel Murder Most Yowl. I’ve started on the sequel and hope you enjoy visiting with my first encounter with cat sitter Cameron, his sheriff nemesis/boyfriend Jake and his family.

This snippet immediately picks up from my last offering where Cam must face the ultimate challenge, talking with his sister on the phone.

And I’m excited to announce that I’m participating in Goodreads #MysteryWeek May 1st through 7th. Check out the following post on my WordPress blog for more details.

Enjoy.

“Cam, when you came out you said you didn’t want to hide who you are anymore.”

“I don’t.”

“Then you need to go on a date.”

“I’ve dated men.”

“Making out in a car doesn’t count.”

The foam under my butt shifted while I squirmed. “I wish I’d never told you that.”

“Murder Most Yowl” New Snippet #3

Hey everybody.

My apologies to everyone for the long, long gap in between my snippets. I’ve been moving from one state to another and dealing with selling, then buying a home, moving everything you own along with your family plus a cranky cat has been more than I could handle at times. Anyway, I’m down to one escrow now and find I can once again indulge in one of my favorite activities, Rainbow Snippets.

Enjoy.

“Stow the crap, Cam. I know you’ve been ducking my calls.”

“Ducking your calls? Me? You wound me, Janice. You really do.”

“I’d like to wound you, with pitchforks and torches.”

I could picture it, her chasing me down the street, swiping the prongs against my rear end. The image made me wince. “You don’t need a pitchfork. Your diabolical plan will be painful enough.”

“A blind date isn’t diabolical.”

“Isn’t it?”
